Pointing GoDaddy Domains to SiteGround

Using the CNAME Record

Here's a step-by-step guide to point a domain from GoDaddy to SiteGround using a CNAME record:
  1. Log in to GoDaddy

  2. Access Domain Management.

  3. Go to the "My Products" page.

  4. Under "Domains," find the domain you want to update and click on "DNS" or "Manage DNS."

  5. Add a CNAME Record:

    1. In the DNS Management page, scroll down to the "Records" section.

    2. Click on "Add" to create a new record.

    3. Select "CNAME" from the "Type" dropdown menu.

  6. Enter CNAME Details:

    1. Host: Enter the subdomain you want to point (e.g., "www").

    2. Points to: Enter the SiteGround CNAME target provided in your SiteGround account (e.g., "yourdomain.com.siteground.net").

    3. TTL: Set the TTL (Time to Live) to your preference or leave it at the default setting.

  7. Save Changes.

  8. Verify Changes.

    1. You can use https://dnschecker.org/ to check the propagation.

    2. It may take some time for the changes to propagate. You can verify the update by checking the DNS settings or using online DNS lookup tools.

  9. Configure SiteGround:

  10. Log in to your SiteGround account.

  11. Go to the "Site Tools" for your domain.

  12. Ensure your domain is added and configured correctly to accept the incoming CNAME.

By following these steps, your domain should successfully point to SiteGround using a CNAME record.
