Identifying Blog/FAQ topics
The "Google Site Search"
Copy-paste these strings into Google. Replace [niche] with your topic.
To find "How-to" topics: site:website.com [niche] "how do I"
To find struggle/pain points: site:website.com [niche] "struggling with"
To find product reviews/comparisons: site:website.com [niche] "worth it" OR "review"
To find versus keywords (High buying intent): site:website.com [niche] "vs" OR "alternative"
Example: If you write about remote work, search: site:reddit.com remote work "struggling with". You might find a thread titled "Struggling with loneliness while working remotely." -> Blog Topic: "7 Ways to Combat Loneliness When You Work From Home."
The Quora Hack
Quora is the direct alternative to Reddit. It is less about "news" and more about evergreen questions.
To find "How-to" topics: site:quora.com [niche] "how do I"
To find specific pain points: site:quora.com [niche] "frustrated with" OR "hardest part"
To find "Best of" lists (Affiliate opportunities): site:quora.com [niche] "what is the best"
To find opinions/reviews: site:quora.com [niche] "worth it?" (type on Google)
The Reddit Hack
If a Reddit thread ranks on Page 1 of Google for a keyword, it means Google wants to show an answer, but no authoritative blog has written a good one yet. Reddit threads are usually messy and disorganized. If you write a structured, clear article on that same topic, you can often steal that #1 spot.
The Workflow:
Go to Semrush or Ahrefs (even the free versions work for this).
Enter reddit.com into the "Site Explorer" or "Domain Overview."
Go to the "Organic Research" / "Organic Keywords" tab.
Filter by Keyword: Type your niche (e.g., "Camping").
Filter by Position: Look for keywords where Reddit ranks in Positions 1–5.
Result: You now have a list of keywords where your only competition is a messy forum thread.
The LinkedIn Hack
(Best for B2B, Career, and Professional topics)
People on LinkedIn complain about professional hurdles. This is gold for B2B SaaS, coaching, or agency blogs.
To find professional struggles: site:linkedin.com/posts [niche] "struggling with"
To find industry debates (Controversial/Viral topics): site:linkedin.com/posts [niche] "unpopular opinion"
To find process gaps: site:linkedin.com/pulse [niche] "how to"
Here's an example of what you will type on Google: site:linkedin.com/posts graphic design "struggling with"
